These new Acrylic paintings with Mixed Media on Wood, are inspired by my love of trees, nature, and my studio work in the print room at the Sonoma Community Center. There, I have been layering elements over and over to achieve a layered affect reminiscent of leaves, on paper. Through layering acrylic on wood I can get a similar affect. In each medium there are small and not so small subtleties that come through to the forefront. I also love working with color, which can be found in all areas of nature, and which have differering qualities and emotional responses. I want my work to feel loose, and tight at the same time. Finished, and seemingly, there could be another element that I could add. As part of the aging process, being ok with ourselves spills over into other areas of our life and perfection doesn’t even enter into this equation. Since perfection is ruled out, letting go (of everything- to a degree) becomes a bigger part of every part of my life. When I can let go, I can leave room to be open to what is. At this moment, everything is good.

These works are up at the Arts Guild of Sonoma on East Napa Rd, through the end of the month. Please come!

Be well,

Tricia
